A rechargeable battery according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention includes a case (11), an electrode assembly received by the case, a cap plate (12) combined with the opening of the case, a protective circuit board (40) electrically connected with a first electrode of the electrode assembly, and a protective device (50) attached on a top surface or side surface of the protective circuit board, electrically connected with a second electrode of the electrode assembly, and electrically connected with the protective circuit board.
