A rechargeable battery comprising: an electrode assembly, a protection circuit assembly, a liquid electrolyte and a case, said protection circuit assembly (20) being an insulated assembly and comprising a circuit board (21), wherein said protection circuit assembly (20) is connected to said electrode assembly (10) and the case accommodates said electrode assembly (10) and said liquid electrolyte the protection circuit assembly (20) sealing an opening in said case (30), the rechargeable battery further comprising a hole (70, 270, 470, 570) through said protection circuit assembly (20) for introduction of said electrolyte into the case (30), wherein the hole (70, 270, 470, 570) is sealed.
