The truck cap includes a composite top and a base support positioned in a sidewall of the top between first and second layers of fiber mats. A composite base is coupled to the base support. A closed-cavity bag molding process of making a truck cap includes placing a first layer of fiber mat into a mold, mounting at least one base support to the first layer adjacent a sidewall of the mold, placing a second layer of fiber mat over the first layer and base support, laying a flexible cover over the second layer, actuating a vacuum to draw air out of the first and second layers, and delivering resin to the layers of fiber mat.
