The engine i.e. two-stroke large diesel engine (1), has transversely supporting walls (8, 81, 82) arranged opposite to each other in an end side (10) of a stand (5) with respect to a crankshaft (3) and connected with each other by an intermediate wall (11). An oscillation compensator (12) is provided in the end side of the stand for compensating oscillations. The compensator is formed in a region of two of the supporting walls such that crescent-like compensator masses (121, 122) e.g. index plates, are horizontally arranged next to each other with respect to the crankshaft. An independent claim is also included for an oscillation compensator.
