An inverted pendulum type vehicle (1) comprising a traveling unit (50) with a main wheel (52), a vehicle body frame (10) having the main wheel (52) supported thereon, a pair of left and right driving units (90, 130) supported on the vehicle body frame (10) for driving the main wheel (52), a battery unit (250) for supplying electric power to the driving units (90, 130), a seat (200) for supporting an occupant thereon and a telescopic strut (180) for supporting the seat (200) for selected upward and downward movement thereof wherein the telescopic strut (180) is disposed between the driving units (90, 130) and the battery unit (250) in a front-to-rear direction of the vehicle body.
