A trailer (7) is coupled with the vehicle and actuatable by a trailer brake (8) on the vehicle. An inch braking process triggers a predetermined trailer braking process in a predetermined operation mode. An electrical sensor arrangement (10) is attached to a brake control element (9) for sensory acquisition of deflection (A) of the control element.
