Electrochemical cell with a liquid electrode and method for charging the same

An electrochemical cell (10) is proposed, having at least one liquid electrode (20) with a variable liquid level (h). The cell includes a bypass system (30) for a charging current, which is adapted for bypassing a percentage of a charging current around the cell, wherein the percentage of the bypassed current is dependent on the liquid level. A respective charging method is also disclosed.
