Drive system having a planetary gear set

A machine (10) includes a power source (12), a transmission (16), and a drive system (14) configured to transmit torque from the power source (12) to the transmission (16). The drive system (14) includes a planetary gear set (30), a variator (28) coupled to the planetary gear set (30), and a storage device (68) operably connected to the variator (28). The storage device (68) is configured to receive energy from and provide energy to the variator (28).
