Vibration damper for a vehicle

The vibration damper (1) has a cylinder (2) in which a damping piston (5) with damping valves (7) is axially moved, and a piston rod (6). The cylinder includes an inner tube (2a) made of wrought iron and a plastic outer tube (2b) to partly surround the inner tube. A tube portion (9) of inner tube has a circumferentially thicker wall which is not completely surrounded by outer tube.
