The method involves applying and manufacturing an abradable coating (20) on a component of a turbomachine by a kinetic cold gas compacting process. The component is a static or rotating component (16) of the turbomachine. An adhesive layer or a thermal insulation- or titanium fire protective layer is applied on a to be coated surface of the static or rotating component with the abradable coating to form a composite abradable coating. The adhesive layer or the thermal insulation- or titanium fire protective layer is formed by a thermal spraying process. An independent claim is included for a static or rotating component for a turbomachine with a rotor blade tip.
