The method involves collecting a sample fluid (71) flowing in a flow duct (18) between an orifice (50) of a fluid tank (10) and open sample outlet (24), where the orifice of the fluid tank through which the sample fluid is collected is located near bottom portion of the tank. A valve (17) located on the flow duct is open to collect the sample fluid flowing through the flow duct. A sampling device made of plastic is installed on a tanker-lorry, where the sampling device defines the sample outlet. An independent claim is also included for a sampling device for sampling fluid stored in a hydrocarbon transporting tanker-lorry.
