A rubber composition is disclosed comprising, based upon parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of rubber (phr): (A) from 50 to 80 phr of a solution polymerization prepared styrene/butadiene rubber (S-SBR) terminally di-functionalized at one terminal end of the styrene/butadiene rubber with a combination of both alkoxysilane and either amine or thiol groups, wherein the S-SBR has a bound styrene content of from 15 to 45 percent bound styrene units (B) from 5 to 70 phr of an in-chain functionalized polybutadiene elastomer with a having a cis 1,4-isomeric content in a range of from 30 to 50 percent and a trans 1,4-isomeric content in a range of from 40 to 60 percent, which contains in-chain functionalization comprising from 0.2 to 1.5 weight percent functional groups bound in the polybutadiene polymer chain; wherein the in-chain functionalized polybutadiene elastomer comprises a copolymer of in-chain repeat units derived from 1,3-butadiene monomer; and a functionalized monomer in amount of from 0.2 to 1.5 weight percent of the 1,3-butadiene monomer. Also, a tire comprising thus rubber composition is disclosed.
