Battery cooling plate and cooling system

A battery module (10) according to one embodiment of this disclosure includes a battery pack including multiple spaced apart battery cells (12), and a cooling system having multiple cooling plates (20) providing a cooling plenum (22). The cooling plates are arranged in an alternating relationship between the battery cells, with each cooling plate including at least a first cooling channel (42) and a second cooling channel (44). The first cooling channel has a first shape and is arranged in a first thermal region (X), and the second cooling channel has a second shape different than the first shape, and is arranged in a second thermal region (Y) different than the first thermal region (X).
