The method involves selecting a scale for presentation or to-be-displayed additional information. A scale associated with the selected additional information or additional information associated with the selected scale is determined automatically. A vehicle surrounding area is displayed on the scale together with the additional information. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) map display device for navigation system; and (2) vehicle.
