"textContent": "An adiabatic compressed air energy storage (ACAES) system (20), comprising at least two compressors (1, 4) operable to compress air (A), at least one thermal energy storage unit (TES, 2) operable to extract thermal energy from the air after compression, and a storage vessel (cavern, 6) for storing the compressed air after it has passed through the TES (2), either the first or the second one of the compressors (1, 4) being a. gas turbine derivative compressor. Upon discharge from the storage vessel (6), the compressed air is passed through the TES (2) in the reverse direction and the heated compressed air is then used to drive an air turbine (8) coupled to an electrical generator (16).",
