Disclosed is a rechargeable lithium battery including a positive electrode, a negative electrode, a separator interposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode, a polymer layer formed on the surface of the separator and including polyvinylidene fluoride based polymer, and an electrolyte solution including C1 to C10 alkyl propionate.
