A variable axial safety device is arranged between the commutator armature unit and a variable commutator in the axial direction in order to reduce an axial play of the armature shaft. The axial safety device comprises a thrush washer adjacent to a spring storage device i.e. spring ring, elastically deformable in the axial direction.
