The method involves representing control surfaces (5-9) on a graphical display unit (2). The control surfaces for touch positions are provided by a user for actuating a control function. The touch positions of a touch sensitive surface (3) are detected by the user. Determination is made whether the control surfaces are touched with the touch positions by comparing coordinates of the touch positions to coordinates of the control surfaces. The representation of the control surfaces is magnified if the control surfaces are not touched. The surfaces and the display unit form a touch screen.
