The engine (1) has cylinder (2) having longitudinal axis (2') defining a plane, to which intake system (3) is connected. A trochoidal machine (4) with rotary piston (5) is arranged on intake system as load controller. The inlet valve (6) and exhaust valve (7) are arranged on cylinder for compressing and expanding gas. The mullioned hypotrochoid is formed on cross section of rotary piston. Rotary axis (5') is provided parallel to plane and perpendicular to longitudinal axis (2'), so that intake air is supplied or discharged with respect to trochoidal machine in radial direction.
