Tire with outside-in, turn-up ply construction

A pneumatic tire comprising a tread (6), two sidewalls (5) individually and separately extending radially inward from a periphery of the tread (6) to a pair of bead cores (3) and a carcass supporting the tread (6) and the sidewalls (5) is disclosed. The carcass comprises at least one cord reinforced rubber ply (8) extending from bead core to bead core through a crown region (4) of the tire (1), wherein the cord reinforced carcass ply (8) extends from axially outside of the bead cores (3) to a respective ply turnup on the axial inner side of the bead cores (3). A self lubricating rubber layer (13) is positioned between the carcass ply (8) and at least one of the bead cores (3).
