The method involves detecting a current environment of a vehicle by using near-field and/or environment detection devices, and detecting a subsequent road user. Movement of the road user is determined. A determination is made that whether already executed and/or to-be-executed energy conversion control processes correlate to the recognized movement of the road user. A decision is made that whether the energy conversion control process is applied in response to the determined correlation with the detected movement of the road user. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for controlling energy conversion processes in a vehicle in response to a subsequent road user (2) a computer program product comprising a set of instructions to perform a method for controlling energy conversion processes in a vehicle in response to a subsequent road user.
