Choke valve device for an internal combustion engine

The butterfly valve device (2) has housing (4) whose interior is formed with a through-flow fluid channel (6). The cross-section of the through-flow fluid channel through a flap portion is determined. The flap portion is located on a flap shaft and is supported and rotated in the housing at a bearing point. A position unit (10) is provided for driving the flap shaft and for providing a limited number of positions for the flap portion.
