Pneumatic tire comprising a carcass (12), a tread (14), and a belt structure (20); the belt structure (20) includes at least four belt layers (22, 24, 26, 28), a radially inner first belt layer (22), a second belt layer (24) arranged adjacent to and radially outward from the first belt layer (22), a third belt layer (26) arranged adjacent to and radially outward from the second belt layer (24), and a fourth belt layer (28) arranged adjacent to and radially outward from the third belt layer (26); each of the layers (22, 24, 26, 28) being reinforced with a plurality of parallel cords; the first, second and third belt layer (22, 24, 26) have the cords directionally oriented relative to an equatorial center plane (EP) of the tire (10) extending either to the right (R) or to the left (L) and the fourth belt layer (28) has the cords directionally oriented relative to the equatorial center plane (EP) of the tire (10) extending to the left (L) or to the right (R), respectively, to form a four layer stacked belt structure of cords sequentially oriented RRRL or LLLR.
