The device (10) has an adsorber- or absorber-heat pump circuit (11) with an evaporator (12), two independently operating energy storages (13) and a condenser (14). The energy storage is filled with zeolite granules. The exhaust gas heat transfer of the drive- or combustion engine is formed by a heat exchanger (15) for introducing heat in the energy storage, where the heat is removed by the heat exchanger. An independent claim is included for a method for air conditioning an interior space of a vehicle, particularly a driving cab of a commercial vehicle, a machine or a building.
