The hydraulically damped bearing (1) comprises an overflow device for adjusting the damping characteristic of the bearing, where the overflow device is coupled with a valve unit (11) for shutting off or controlling the flow by the overflow device. The bearing have chambers (6,7), where each chamber is coupled with a volume compensation unit (20,21) that is lockable by a blocking device (22,23). The volume compensation unit is fluidly connected with the associated chamber volume for the adjustment of the bearing rigidity. The blocking device associated to volume compensation unit is coupled with an electric controller (17) to control the blocking device depending on defined bearing conditions. An independent claim is included for a method for changing the position of a chassis bearing in a vehicle.
