Multifunctional unit for a passenger vehicle

The unit has a container (20) convertible from a rest position into a collapsed operating position (Bst). The container is fixed outside a body (2) on a support system (32) and comprises upright walls (37, 39) that are supported on a bottom (36) in the operating position. The upright walls of the bottom and a lid (41) are made of dimensionally-stable material and represent a relative flattened parcel-like component (21) that is installable as a hat rack into a structure space. The hat rack is formed by the container in the rest position and attached to longitudinal beams.
