Fuel filter having integrated sensors

The component (10) has a molded plastic housing (12) defining an interior filtering chamber (18), and a sensor (28) effectively supported by the housing in order to detect a property of the fuel passing through the filter component. The sensor includes an element (30) exposed to the fuel, a common connector terminal (34) and lines (40) extending between the element and the common connection terminal. The lines are plastic encapsulated between the element and the common connector terminal such that the lines are sealed with respect to contact with the fuel. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing of a fuel filter for an internal combustion engine.
