Wheel lift for a tow vehicle and method for towing a vehicle

The wheel lift (10) has a wheel retainer (13) for retaining a wheel of a vehicle to be towed. The retainer has a rotatably supported unrolling element (14) at which the wheel is unrolled for insertion into the retainer. A coupling area (11) is coupled with the vehicle and arranged on a side of the wheel lift, where the unrolling element is designed in a hydraulically or pneumatically-driven manner. A brake (19) is provided for defining rotating movement of the unrolling element, where breadth and/or length of the retainer is adjusted for adapting the retainer to the wheel. An independent claim is also included for a method for towing a vehicle.
