Provided is an electric bicycle which includes a motor drive unit located at an intermediate position between a front wheel and a rear wheel to minimize the loss of force during running and can prevent the occurrence of a large shock and sound even when the electric bicycle is switched to regeneration running. An auxiliary-driving-force output sprocket 19 of a motor drive unit 20 is engaged with a driving force transmitting chain for transmitting a pedal force from pedals to the rear wheel. An input/output changeover clutch 42 for switching a force transmission direction and a damper 43 are provided on a force transmission path between a motor output shaft 17a and an auxiliary-driving-force output shaft 41 in the motor drive unit 20.
