The present invention concerns a vehicle brake apparatus comprising: a boosted hydraulic pressure chamber (9;1009); a master cylinder (MA;M) comprising: a master piston 10;1010) of which back side faces the boosted hydraulic pressure chamber (9;1009); and a casing (12;1012) accommodating the master piston (10;1010) in a slidable manner; a hydraulic pressure generating source (6;1006); a reservoir (R); and a pressure regulating valve unit (7;1007A;1007B) which regulates output hydraulic pressure of the hydraulic pressure generating source (6;1006) in response to an input of brake application effort from a brake operation member (5;1005) for application to the boosted hydraulic pressure chamber (9;1009); wherein the master cylinder (MA;M) is connected to wheel brakes (BA,BB,BC,BD), the hydraulic pressure generating source is made up of only a pump (6;1006), an accumulator (59;1059) is connected to the pump (6;1006) via an open-close-valve (80) which is controlled by a control unit (C), and the control unit (C) controls the open-close-valve (80) to open or close so as to accumulate a hydraulic pressure by a preset set pressure in the accumulator (59;1059) at least while the brakes (BA,BB,BC,BD) are not applied and while the brakes (BA,BB,BC,BD) are being applied with the pump (6;1006) in an operating state and controls the open-close-valve (80) to open at an initial stage of a brake applying operation.
