Fuel filter of an internal combustion engine and filter element of a fuel filter

The fuel filter (10) has a housing (12) which has a fuel inlet (26) for fuel to be cleaned, a fuel outlet (18) for filtered fuel and a water outlet (30) for water separated from the fuel. A filter element (36) is arranged in the housing to separate the fuel inlet from the fuel outlet in a sealed manner. The filter element has a filter medium (38) designed as hollow body. The filter medium is passed-through for filtering the fuel from the inside or from the outside. An independent claim is included for a filter element with a flow path.
