A driving assistance device includes a controller configured to collect detection results of an operation state of an operation lever and a state of a vehicle, the controller determines whether to set a holder to be held or released based on the operation state of the operation lever and the state of the vehicle, and a switching instruction unit provides an instruction for switching the holder between a held state and a released state in accordance with a result of the determination by the controller.
