The object of providing a battery cell housing having an aluminium alloy strip or sheet which, on the one hand, makes it possible to achieve recycling rates and, on the other hand, satisfies the requirements of a battery cell housing, in particular with regard to strength, electrolyte stability and electrical and thermal conductivity, is achieved in that the aluminium alloy strip or sheet has an aluminium alloy with the following alloy constituents in wt %: 0.1% ≤Si≤0.5%, 0.25% ≤Fe≤0.8%, Cu≤0.6%, 0.6% ≤Mn≤1.4%, 0.5% ≤Fe≤1.5%, Cr≤0.25%, Zn≤0.4%, 0.005% ≤Ti≤0.2%, the remainder being Al and unavoidable impurities, individually at most 0.05% and in total at most 0.15%.
