In certain embodiments, the methods, compositions and devices employ interfacial programming of artificial siderophores to create photosynthetic and photoresponsive bacteria and bacteria anchored biophotonic architectures. The biophotonic charge storage cells may be used to power external devices such as a glucose meter.
