A method includes: obtaining an in-position status of a charger of the electronic device; turning off a first switch if the charger of the electronic device is in position, where the first switch is located between a load of the electronic device and a battery of the electronic device; and after the load is disconnected from the battery, detecting a change of an internal resistance of the battery to obtain an internal resistance test result.
