External module for controlling the supply of a device provided with an internal power source

The module (5) has a switch i.e. electromechanical relay, and a controller e.g. microcontroller, placed between a power supply source i.e. power grid (3) and an equipment (1) so as to actuate the switch according to a command for connecting or disconnecting the equipment from the source. An input port is connected to the source and an output port is connected to a power supply port of the equipment. The switch connects the input port and the output port. A control port e.g. universal serial busport is adapted to transmit data between the equipment and the controller. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a system comprising an external control module (2) a method for controlling a power supply of a set of equipments.
