ENGINE STARTING DEVICE AND VEHICLE MOUNTED WITH SAME
DRIVE
May 22, 2013
A device for starting an engine (100) includes a starter (200) for starting the engine (100) and an ECU (300) for controlling the starter (200). The starter (200) includes a pinion gear (260) structured to engage with a ring gear (110) coupled to a crankshaft of the engine (100), an actuator (232) for moving the pinion gear (260) to an engagement position with the ring gear (110), and a motor (220) for rotating the pinion gear (260). The ECU (300) can individually control each of the actuator (232) and the motor (220). The ECU (300) holds such a state that the motor (220) is stopped and the actuator (232) is driven during a stand-by period until a reference condition is satisfied after completion of start of the engine (100). Thus, when the engine stopped immediately after start, the engine can quickly be re-started.
