Means (102, IN1) are provided for measuring a pinion angle and a torsion bar torque when the lane keeping aid system is applying an overlaying steering torque. Driver applied torque is estimated (103) from the measurements. A hands-off metric is calculated (104) based on a relation between the measurements and the estimate. Hands-off is determined (105) based on a comparison of the metric with a predefined threshold. Means (106, IN2) are further provided for evaluating hands-on between torque interventions by the lane keeping aid system. An action (A1, A2, A3) is determined based on the determined hands-off and the evaluated hands-on and the action (A1, A2, A3) determined performed.",
