The unit (11) includes a wall (15) extending beneath the unit to contact against an upper engine surface (ES). In use, fuel carrying components (H, I) of the engine are isolated from high temperature engine components (X, K, G, Fig. 2 ) by the wall, preventing external combustion in the case of a fuel leak. Seals or barriers (16, 19) may be provided under the air filter unit. At least one air circulation area (ACF, ACX) is provided between the air filter unit and the engine so that intake air is thermally insulated from hot parts of the engine. The air filter unit (11) may be a separate part to the rocker cover (R, Fig. 2 ). Advantages: more space for air filter element; reduced parts count.",
