A gas turbine engine (10) includes an intercooling turbine section (24A) to at least partially drive one of a low spool (42') and a high spool (46'). An intercooling turbine section bypass is provided to selectively bypass at least a portion of a core flow (60) through an intercooling turbine section bypass path (112) around the intercooling turbine section (24A).
