The transmission (3), reducer (16), and driving motor (15) are disposed within a rear hub (1) so as to lie side by side in the direction of the axis of the axle (5). The transmission (3) transmits a pedaling force to a driving wheel (45) through a sprocket (4). The reducer (16) transmits to the drive wheel (45) a driving force transmitted from the driving motor (15). The transmission (3) includes a sun gear (3a), planetary gears (3b), and a planetary carrier (3c). The transmission (3) further includes a control mechanism (10) for causing the transmission to be shifted between a position at which the transmission's sun gear (3a) can rotate about the axle (5) by the driving force from the sprocket (4) and a position at which the transmission's sun gear (3a) cannot rotate. The reducer (16) includes a sun gear (16a) and planetary gears (16b). The reducer's planetary gears (16b) are held by the transmission's planetary carrier (3c). A clutch (30) is provided between a motor housing (15b) and a reducer's outer ring gear (16d) which meshes with the reducer's planetary gears (16b).",
