Method for removing or reducing the thickness of a passivation layer on an electrode of a battery

The method involves measuring battery voltage (UB) by voltage measurement unit and decreasing battery current (Ic) for a time period (t1) by a load. The time period (t1) is more predeterminable by control unit. The battery voltage measured during the current supply is compared with a threshold value (UDS). The battery current is decreased for a time period (t2) longer than the time period (t1) by the load, when the battery voltage measured during current supply is equal to or lesser than threshold value. The time period (t2) is more predeterminable by control unit. An independent claim is included for device for eliminating or reducing thickness of passivation layer on electrode of rechargeable battery.
