The heat exchanger (20) has a first stage (22) and at least a second stage (24), each having separate heat transfer fins, the heat transfer fins of the first stage (22) being arranged in the feed air duct (26) upstream of the heat transfer fins of the second stage (24). A method of controlling a refrigerating system (10) for a vehicle, comprising a refrigerant circuit (12) which includes a vehicle air-conditioning system (14) and a multistage heat exchanger (20) arranged in a feed air duct (26), has a cooling mode and a heating mode for cooling and, respectively, heating a vehicle interior.
