Strip component for a vehicle and method of producing a strip component

The component (1) has a multilayer structure with an intermediate layer applied directly on a lath base body. A recess for receiving an insert (2) is introduced on the lath base body and the intermediate layer such that a lateral boundary surface of the multilayer structure is exposed through the recess. A covering layer is applied on the intermediate layer such that the covering layer acts as a protecting layer for covering the surface area of lateral boundary surface formed by introduction of a recess.
