Drive system and method for operating such a drive system

The system (10) has an inverter (24), an intermediate circuit (20) at an input side, and a connection for an electric motor (26) on an output side. A capacitor (22) is connected parallel to the intermediate circuit, where the drive system is associated with a control device that is activatable by a thyristor (40). A fuse (18) is provided between a battery (12) and the intermediate circuit, where the thyristor is connected in series with the battery upon activation of the thyristor.
