The heat engine has a gas chamber (1), which stands in connection with a heat exchanger (4) that guides a cooling medium and another heat exchanger (2), which is arranged on a side of the gas chamber against the former heat exchanger and guides a heating medium. A working cylinder (8) is connected with the gas chamber, in which a working piston (9) is oscillated. A displacement plate (10) is placed in the gas chamber, which has a gas-permeable regenerator (11) that is centrally arranged in an aperture, such that the displacement plate is balanced in its geometrical center.
