A fuel injection device (617) for use in an internal combustion engine, includes: a valve body (114) that can open and close a fuel passage (502, 702), a needle (102) that transfers a force with the valve body (114), and executes valve opening/closing operation, and an electromagnet that includes a coil and a magnetic core provided as a driver for driving the needle (102), and a cylindrical nozzle holder (101) disposed on an outer periphery of the magnetic core and the needle (102), in which a current is supplied to the coil to exert a magnetic attractive force between the magnetic core and the needle (102) to open the valve body (114). The valve closing operation starts at an intermediate position between a valve closing position of the valve body (114) and a maximum lift position, and a hydrodynamic force exerted on the valve body (114) in a valve closing direction is increased up to a lift position where the valve closing operation starts.",
