Horizontal locking device

The device has a swivel retainer (2) provided at a support and swingable around a horizontally arranged pivotal axis and parallel to an abutment surface (51) of a corner fitting (5) on a transport vehicle. The swivel retainer is engaged in a locking position in the corner fitting. The swivel retainer is preloaded toward an initial position and pivoted when loading weight of a container against the preloading into the locking position. A latch unit latches the swivel retainer in a position when reaching the locking position.
