Disclosed is a secondary cell provided with an electrode body in which a positive plate and a negative plate are alternately stacked with a separator therebetween, a case that houses the aforementioned electrode body, and a cover that is provided with a positive terminal and a negative terminal and fits in the aforementioned case, wherein the aforementioned positive plate is equipped with a roughly plate-like main positive electrode body and a first tab that is disposed axisymmetrically with respect to the axis of the center of gravity of the aforementioned positive plate and that is connected to the aforementioned main positive electrode body and the aforementioned positive terminal, the aforementioned negative plate is equipped with a roughly plate-like main negative electrode body and a second tab that is disposed axisymmetrically with respect to the axis of the center of gravity of the aforementioned negative plate and that is connected to the aforementioned main negative electrode body and the aforementioned negative terminal, and the aforementioned first and second tabs are disposed in positions that do not mutually overlap during stacking.
