Procedure for detecting the occupation state of a seat and seat with an occupation detection device

DRIVE December 19, 2012
Source
The device has a pressure sensor (1) that is provided to generate output signal based on seat occupancy state. A main sense element (2) is provided to generate trigger sensitivity at switching threshold (S1). An auxiliary sense element (3) is provided to generate trigger sensitivity which is lower than predetermined trigger sensitivity, exerted at switching threshold (S2). The attainment of switching threshold (S2) is set as trigger signal for seat occupancy state. The seat occupancy state is reset, if switching threshold of main sense element is exceeded again.
